This leather briefcase is built to last for generations. The body of the bag is made from one piece of American veg tan leather. This minimizes seams to an absolute minimum, maximizing the integrity of the bag. The stitching along those seams is a saddle stitch which can only be done by hand. German-made mono-filament, marine-grade polyester thread and solid copper rivets are used to permanently attach the parts of this briefcase together. All hardware, including buckles on the pocket closures and shoulder strap, is sand cast solid brass.

The body of the bag is 15" x 11" x 3.5"
The laptop compartment is 14.5 inches wide, 9.5 inches high, and thick enough to hold a laptop in a sleeve.
Design
Honesty is the guiding thesis of Double Rivet Leather designs:
- a single piece of hand-cut leather folded onto itself for the body as well as wholecut front pockets = no hidden seams.
- refinished flesh-side so there's no need to hide it with a lining.
- the highest quality cow leather from heritage tanneries = no need to reinforce with a laminated lining.
- Sand cast solid brass D-rings, buckles, and clasps that have no seams.
The Standard Classic Briefcase offers a refined look in beautifully rugged materials that is appropriate to go with a suit without extra D-rings or features that complicate the look.
Leather
All Double Rivet Leather pieces are made with full-grain, American veg tan steer leather from either the Horween or Wickett & Craig tannery. This briefcase uses leather that is thick enough so that it does not need to be lined.
Customization
Feel free to indicate in the notes section during checkout whether you'd like any custom edits to your bag. Some examples include: dimension changes, more rivets at stress points, embossed initials or numbers, a particular shoulder strap length, or a specific laptop sleeve width.
Absolutely no shortcuts or cost saving measures are used in the making of this briefcase. The saddle stitch is the strongest stitch. Solid copper saddler's rivets are the strongest rivets. All exposed stitches are hand-stitched into a shallow groove to further protect them. Over time, the leather and rivets will patina to an even more distinguished look.
All Double Rivet Leather products are hand-cut and hand-stitched to order in New York. There is a three-week lead time on leather bag orders.
