Thick bridle leather dress belts are impossible to find. Suit pants often come with belt loops that are too small to fit the standard 1.5-inch-wide belt. So we made this 1.25-inch-wide dress version. Although narrower, this belt is stout enough to clip holsters and sheaths to it.

The Double Rivet Leather Bridle Leather Belt is made from the thickest full-grain bridle leather that can be used for a dress belt. It’s a single 1.25 inch wide piece of 8-10 oz American veg tanned bridle leather, the same leather used in saddle making. The buckle is solid brass with a matte nickel finish. The strongest hand set copper rivets are hammered in to permanently attach the buckle. We can also swap the rivets for Chicago screws if you’d like to be able to unscrew and switch between buckles (ask a Southerner if you’re unsure what this means).

This is built to last generations and can easily hold any heavy tools you need to carry on it.

I made this belt because my brother bought a genuine ‘leather’ belt he thought looked nice at a department store on sale for $60. One look at it, and I knew it wasn’t going to last a year of regular use. It didn’t. It frayed, and the layers delaminated. He wore it longer than he should’ve until it literally fell apart in less than two years. Our father’s closet is full of busted department store belts. A full-grain bridle leather belt will stop this cycle and save money because you’ll never need to buy another one, and it’ll get better with use.

The Inside the Waistband Phone Holster works perfectly with this belt:
